In case you missed it, we had a fantastic turnout of more than 200 people at yesterday’s Knoxville Social Media Summit, sponsored by the Knoxville News Sentinel and Metropulse. The event was held at Downtown Knoxville’s S&W Grand, and was a joint effort by the Knoxville Social Media Association and Social Media Club of Knoxville.
As one of the KSMA organizers, I am happy to let you know that you will be seeing more joint events and educational activities from KSMA and SMCK going forward because A:) It just makes good sense B:) We all really like hanging out together (after all, it IS called “social” media).
You can read more about the event by catching up with the #knoxsummit hashtag on Twitter or by taking a peek at Carly Harrington’s nice write-up in today’s Knoxville News Sentinel. But if you came here for the photos, you’re in the right place. Here are a few to get you started, and I’ll be adding more over the next day or two as folks send them to me. If you see someone I’ve misidentified or left UNidentified in a particular photo, please let me know in the comments below.
(Photo quality will vary, with the shots taken by me, with my much-hated BlackBerry Storm looking the worst)
Below, you see the crowd of more than 200 seated for the panel on journalism and social media. I spy Terri Brooks, Catherine Rapp of E.W. Scripps, Bonny Millard, Chad Parizman, Brad Hill and Becca Vannier.
Here’s the ever-suave Chad Parizman of HGTV lounging during a break between panels. Chad has been instrumental in launching KSMA over the past year.
Panelists talking about business uses for social media included Fiona McAnally of AC Entertainment, Lynne Farmer of Bush Brothers, Robin Hawn of PetSafe, Lynsay Caylor of Pilot Travel Centers and Amy Howell of Memphis’s Howell Marketing. This panel was moderated by Gavin Baker of Ruby Tuesday.

One question. Who owns the content that goes on these social media sites? The person who created it? The person who posted it? The owners/company that created the social media site?
